• Vinyl siding is made from plastic materials formed and molded into the desired shape and width. Aluminum siding is made from sheets of aluminum cut into strips. In the past, aluminum siding was always used. However, in recent years almost *0 percent of all homes with siding were covered in vinyl. Cost

Style

• Style makes a large difference between vinyl and aluminum siding. Vinyl siding will offer a slightly more modern appearance. The siding color is part of the original siding's appearance. It is not necessary to paint over vinyl siding. However, vinyl siding can fade in the sun and become mildewed. Aluminum siding creates an old-fashioned appearance. Aluminum siding must be painted. The paint can chip over time, which can create an unsightly appearance. However, aluminum siding can be repainted.

Environmental Impact

• Vinyl is made of plastic materials that are not biodegradable. The development of vinyl requires the use of processes and chemicals that can be very hazardous to the health of the manufacturers. The disposal of vinyl can also be difficult because when the plastic is melted, harmful chemicals are released into the air. Because aluminum is a natural-occurring metal, there are not as many chemicals used in its production. Aluminum is also much easier to recycle.

Durability

• Vinyl siding is almost twice as thick as aluminum siding. This means that vinyl siding is a little more durable. However, aluminum can bend slightly without harm to the siding, where vinyl siding is brittle and can break easily. Over time, aluminum siding can get dented and scratched, exposing the inner metal. Vinyl siding does not have this problem, because the color is used throughout the piece. However, vinyl siding does fade under direct sunlight.

How to extend scaffolding walking Board

1.Have a 'competent person' assess and document the needs of the area for extended

scaffolding. A 'competent person' in some states is required to have special licensing,

and in others experience with scaffolding set up is enough. What is important is that

you keep some form of documentation that the person designated as 'competent'

approves each step of the scaffolding assembly

2.Assemble the frame of your scaffolding system. Whether it is mobile or stationary,

make sure that the supports for your scaffolding plans follow the assembly plans

3.Lay your first plank across the supports of your platform. Have your competent

person check that each plan extends a minimum of 6 inches and a maximum of

*2 inches past any support bracket.

4.Extend your scaffolding plank by laying the next plank over it. If the span

of your support is 7 feet, your plans must overlap a minimum of 6 inches up

to a maximum of *2 inches. If the span of your plank support is *0 feet, the boards

must overlap *2 inches.

5.You may provide cleats to additionally connect your extended scaffold planks again.

Ask your competent person to designate that the cleats are provided and used only

to prevent the scaffold planks from sliding and not as a means of providing any

re-enforcement to the boards at all.

How to Assemble Scaffolding

1. Check the area where you will build your scaffolding, before assembly. The ground should be level and free from any moisture that may cause the assembly to slip. Check to make sure there are no obstacles in the area that will interfere with the scaffolding and look for places that you can easily and safely secure tie-ins

2. Put 1 by 1 foot pads under the scaffolding feet if the ground is soft or sandy. This option is better than using a large piece of plywood, which will shake if the ground isn't perfectly level. Screw leveling pads are available as scaffolding supports, however they are not necessary. Casters also work to level the scaffolding, but you should only use casters on hard surfaces

3. Have someone help you assemble the scaffolding. One person should work to build the frame, while the other person passes all of the required materials to them. The person working to assemble the scaffold should wear a safety harness at all times

4. Inspect all of the scaffolding pieces for damage during assembly. Never use damaged, rusted or misshapen parts. Secure the scaffolding to surrounding structures with tie-ins as you go along. Double-check the locking components, at every stage, to make sure that they are coping with the added strain

5. Use ladders to reach the elevated sections. Ladders can be helpful when connecting platforms to the scaffold, however, if the scaffold will be standing for a long period, you should add a scaffold stairway

6. Make the scaffolding more rigid by adding extra diagonal bracing which pulls sections tighter against existing bracing. Tensioned rope or piping works nicely

7. Add your scaffold platforms by using *-inch planks, or double up two sheets of *-inch plywood. Always take extra care to not overload the deck with equipment

Tips & Warnings

1. Always use components from the same manufacturer.

2.Standard top safety rails are only for safety, and not for rigging. If you need to add a rail for rigging, you can build your own by splicing pipe onto the risers, but use very strong connectors for assembly, such as three way crosses or ladder chain with bolts
